KALAMAZOO, MI -- More Kalamazoo Public Schools students are accepting the challenge to enroll in Advanced Placement (AP) courses for college credit, officials say.
During the 2024-25 school year, 859 students at Kalamazoo’s three high schools enrolled in AP courses. That’s the highest number of students in the past 17 years to enroll in AP courses, according to recent data provided by KPS.
During the previous school year, 727 students enrolled in AP courses.
AP courses are available to KPS students in 10th grade and above, according to the district’s course bulletin . There are a total 2,457 students enrolled in 10th through 12th grade at the district’s three high schools: Kalamazoo Central, Loy Norrix and Phoenix, the smaller alternative program, according to MI School Data.
