A former minor hockey coach told an Ontario Court of Justice judge he has lost everything due to his child porn convictions.

“I have let everybody down,” Pat Paone of Welland said through tears Friday in a St. Catharines courtroom. “I’m so embarrassed, and I’m so ashamed.”

Judge Cameron Watson sentenced the 51-year-old to 15 months in jail on one charge each of possession of child pornography and making child pornography available.

The sentence also includes jail time for criminal harassment and breaching conditions of his bail release. Neither charge was related to child pornography. There is a publication ban on information that could identify victims or witnesses on all charges, except the breach.

Watson called the facts of the case “horrendous, offensive, disgusting and abhorrent.”
