LOVINGSTON -- Two members of the Nelson County Board of Supervisors running for reelection this fall and four candidates seeking to join them each gave their thoughts on a recent leadership change for the county’s Department of Social Services.
The board of supervisors voted in August to dissolve the previous Nelson County Social Services Board, an appointed body that oversees the social services department, following concerns with a lack of referrals on cases and an “inexcusable decline” in interaction with stakeholders, according to a May 23 letter from the board to then-DSS leadership.
