The Amherst County Fair returns this weekend for all county residents to enjoy the excitement of contests, activities, rides, live music and more. The fair runs Thursday through Sunday at the fairgrounds at Sweet Briar Drive near Amherst town limits.

Many contests and competitions will take place at the fair over the weekend, from hot dog eating contests to chicken calling contests/competitions and even a donut on a string eating contest/event.

There will also be opportunities for farmers, or any Amherst County resident, to showcase their best crop, baked good, canned good, tractor, craft and more. To participate in the exhibits , fill out an entry form and drop the form and entry item off at the fairgrounds from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 12-3 p.m. on Thursday.
