GRAND HAVEN, MI - Café Tamaki has been a local gathering place in the community since opening in 2022.
The cafe, complete with a Japanese flair, initially opened at 12 Washington Ave. in downtown Grand Haven, but moved last year to its current address at 122 Peck St.
Owners Sarah Kniss and Sam Birkenkamp said they decided to move due to limited space. Their sister shop, BananaDogStore, resides in the back of the single-story building.
“It all kind of worked out,” Birkenkamp said. “That’s the fun part of having a 200-year business plan — part of it is being open to new opportunities.”
