DETROIT – Detroit’s award-winning Riverwalk – named best in the nation for three years straight – offers serene green spaces, lively evening events and a relaxing route from downtown to Belle Isle. In October, it’s getting a major upgrade.

The 3.5-mile stretch of pedestrian and bike-friendly paths connects downtown Detroit’s Hart Plaza with attractions like Belle Isle, the Dequindre Cut and the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre.

Along the way, visitors can stop at Cullen Plaza, Robert C. Valade Park and Mt. Elliott Park for refreshments, family-friendly play spaces and scheduled activities including yoga, beach volleyball and sledding.
