A Friday morning fire brought multiple departments together to battle flames at a residence just outside Newton Grove.

The blaze occurred at 3956 Roanoke Road, with dispatchers receiving the call at 9:53 a.m. Firefighters remained on the scene until around noon, with safety checks lasting until about 12:30 p.m., according to Vann Crossroads Fire Chief Anthony Thornton.

Thornton reported that no human occupants were inside the house at the time of the fire. Two canines were present when the blaze broke out, but the animals were reported unharmed. He added that while the residence was not deemed a total loss, it is currently uninhabitable due to the extent of the damage.
