City officials are taking steps to build a space for eateries, retail and other businesses at the former Lou’s Antique Mall site downtown.

The Danville Office of Economic Development and Tourism has issued a request for proposals seeking a firm to perform architecture and engineering for the project at 231 Main St.

Work would include developing final construction drawings based on a conceptual plan created by an architectural firm for the site.
