SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Flu season is approaching, which means it’s time to get your annual flu shot. While the virus spreads year-round, the CDC says usually, flu activity peaks between December and February.

This is why the organization recommends getting a new vaccine every year.

Health professionals recommend you get your shot sooner, rather than later.

“Prevention is key in not getting the flu,” explained Suzanne Cosby, Director of nursing at SouthCoast Health.

The flu can come in many forms, from mild to severe infections. The best way to prevent severe illness, is by getting your flu shot.

“In the event you do get the flu, if you have the flu shot, then your signs and symptoms may not be as bad,” Cosby said.
