AUSTIN, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate state emergency response resources ahead of severe storms that could impact West Texas on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms are in the forecast across the western half of the state, including Big Bend, Permian Basin, Panhandle, South Plains, Far West Texas, Concho Valley and Big Country Regions.
