NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — Avon used the start of Southwestern Conference play to put on a show of air superiority led by senior quarterback Blake Elder’s five-touchdown night in a 55-7 rout of North Ridgeville on Friday.

While preparing for a conference road game against an undefeated opponent, Avon head coach Mike Elder spotted a weakness in the Rangers’ defense he knew his team was capable of exploiting. Focusing on the deep ball, the Eagles looked as sharp as could be in the passing game.

The Eagles, ranked third in this week’s cleveland.com Top 25, are 3-1. The Rangers, also 3-1, are ranked 23rd.
