Dover, DE – A teenager was killed and another seriously injured Friday afternoon after their electric bicycle struck a school bus in Dover, shutting down part of West Lebanon Road for hours.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. as a Caesar Rodney School District bus was turning right onto Royal Grant Way, investigators said. At the same time, an e-bike carrying two riders was traveling eastbound on the sidewalk next to the bus.

The sidewalk has a posted stop sign requiring cyclists to halt before entering the intersection, but police said the e-bike continued through and collided with the passenger side of the bus.

A 14-year-old boy from Dover, believed to be the passenger, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released. The 16-year-old oper
