Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal is expected to make his next start after he exited Friday night's 8-2 loss to the Miami Marlins with tightness in his left side, manager A.J. Hinch told reporters.

Hinch on Saturday said imaging tests came back negative.

Skubal threw 45 pitches in 3⅓ innings Friday, allowing four hits and four earned runs. He walked none and struck out two batters.

The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner allowed a fourth-inning leadoff single to Heriberto Hernandez and then retired Eric Wagaman on a fly out to center field before exiting.

"There are some aches and pains that come and go when you're out there playing. This one was new to me," Skubal said after the game. "And that's kind of what made my decision for me."
