Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed appropriate revulsion over the assassination of a prominent U.S. Conservative activist, posting on X:

“I am appalled by the murder of Charlie Kirk. There is no justification for political violence and every act of it threatens democracy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones.”

No sane person disagrees – although in Manitoba NDP cabinet minister Nahanni Fontaine had to apologize for reposting a comment on social media that described Kirk as racist, xenophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, sexist, and a “white nationalist mouthpiece” who “stood for nothing but hate.”
