Miami — There was a bounce in manager AJ Hinch’s step as he came out for his pregame media session Saturday.

Which seemed like a good sign.

And it was.

Hinch announced that the medical tests performed on lefty ace Tarik Skubal in Detroit Saturday morning came back negative.

“It’s all good news,” Hinch said. “The scans came back clean and that’s great news for us and great news for him.”

Skubal pulled himself out of the game against the Marlins Friday night in the fourth inning. He said he felt tightness in his left side, a tightness that he’d never felt before.

“He just said it was the rib cage area on his side,” Hinch said. “But all of that was consistent with what he was saying last night. The physical evaluation and the medical evaluation matched up.”
