EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office is providing new information today after they say two teens were injured in a shooting last night at a high school football game.

They say the shooting happened at the game between Tarboro and Southwest Edgecombe.

The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were both injured during the shooting. They say both of the victims are in stable condition at this time and medical professionals say recovery looks good for both of them.

The post said the weapon used in the shooting was brought to campus despite law enforcement presence, metal detectors, and weapons detection systems in place.
