Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora gave a host of injury updates ahead of Saturday’s game against the New York Yankees.

Starting pitcher Dustin May has yet to resume throwing as he recovers from an elbow issue and reliever Liam Hendriks has been shut down and is unlikely to pitch again this season.

Outfielder Wilyer Abreu, meanwhile, appears to finally be on track to return from his calf strain in the coming days, while rookie outfielder Roman Anthony is taking small steps as he battles an oblique strain.

“Cora says Abreu is expected to be activated next week, unclear if it’s for the A’s or Rays,” Alex Speier of The Boston Globe posted on Bluesky. “- Roman Anthony may be cleared to start walking on a treadmill.”
