CISCO, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Thanks to quick action from multiple fire departments, eight homes and 13 buildings were saved from a grass fire in Cisco on Saturday afternoon.

The blaze started around 1:03 p.m. on County Road 145, near County Road 132, when a landowner’s equipment struck a rock while cutting hay, sparking the fire. Cisco fire crews responded first, with the Texas A&M Forest Service joining to provide mutual aid.

Evacuations were ordered but lifted soon after as crews gained control. By 3:30 p.m., the fire was contained, though mop-up efforts continued into the evening.

In total, about 300 acres burned, destroying 130 hay bales, damaging one structure, and causing an estimated $1,000 in farm equipment damage. No injuries were reported.
