ATLANTA — Clemson football tight end Ian Schieffelin nearly made a game-changing play in his first snap for the Tigers.

Trailing by seven to Georgia Tech in the fourth quarter, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik threw to Schieffelin in the end zone on third-and-2 from the 4. Schieffelin, who played basketball for Clemson for four seasons before switching to football, almost had his first career catch and touchdown, but a Georgia Tech defender knocked the ball out of his hands.

"We were just taking advantage of a matchup," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. "We had four tight ends in the game. We actually did it earlier in the game, and they called a timeout because I don't think they were ready for the personnel."
