Auburn football picked up a 31-15 win over South Alabama on Saturday despite being without a handful of key players.

Damari Alston, Champ Anthony, Malcolm Simmons and Rayshawn Pleasant all missed the game with injuries, but none of them seemed to be serious.

"We had several kids out today. Some probably could have played -- like Malcolm or Rayshawn or Champ," Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze said after the game. “But it was probably best that they not.”

Alston and Simmons were both limited with shoulder injuries and were dressed out, but didn’t play. Anthony practiced during the week after suffering a broken thumb against Baylor, but didn’t get in the game on Saturday.
