Aidan Birr drilled a 55-yard field goal as time expired to lift Georgia Tech to a 24-21 victory against No. 12 Clemson on Saturday, snapping the Yellow Jackets’ nine-game losing streak to the Tigers.

The kick curled inside the right side of the goal post, setting off a wild celebration at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta. Birr’s 55-yarder tied the Georgia Tech program record for longest field goal.

Before Saturday, Georgia Tech (3-0, 1-0 ACC) had not beaten Clemson since 2014.

The dramatic finish closed out a back and forth game. Georgia Tech went up 13-0 before Clemson rallied to go up 14-13 early in the third quarter.
