SANDUSKY, Ohio – Northern Ohio will flex its tourism muscles next week as the first U.S. host of the Strongman Champions League, a global competition of strength and showmanship. The two-day event will take place Sept. 19 and 20 in Toledo and Sandusky.
The league, founded in 2008, is a series of 16 global contests featuring a variety of strength competitions, from truck pulls to steel beam flips to deadlifts.
This is the first time the competition has been held in the United States.
Toledo will host a preview event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 19, in downtown near Maumee Bay Brewing Co., at 27 Broadway St. The event will include a demonstration of strength events, along with an opportunity to meet the athletes ahead of the main competition.
