HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A 16-year-old was arrested Friday after deputies say he brought a knife to school.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says administrators at Aquila J. Morgan High School received a tip just before 2 p.m. that the student had a weapon on campus. During a search, deputies say a 3 1/2-inch fixed-blade knife was found in the teen's backpack.

He was charged with possession of a weapon on school property, according to the sheriff's office.

10 Tampa Bay News is not identifying the teen due to his age and the nature of the charges.
