NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — For the Benton Panthers, Friday’s game against North Little Rock was one they’d been looking forward to.
“All we were just thinking about is football, football, football,” Jimmy Morales, a junior right guard, said.
For Morales and the Panthers, the game couldn’t have started better.
Coming off a loss to Bryant, the team was up big at halftime- playing like they knew they could, according to senior wide receiver Will Carter.
“We had a good week leading up to it at practice,” Carter said, “And we just felt confident in each other.”
But at halftime, everything changed.
A shot was fired, striking the parent of a Benton band member sitting in the visitors’ bleachers.
