JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 14-year-old is facing a murder charge after a fatal shooting on Jacksonville's Westside earlier this week, police say.
Just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex on LaBelle Street. After arriving, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said they found 18-year-old Marlon Lane with multiple gunshot wounds.
JSO said Lane was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Keyon Byrd turned himself in on Friday — the same day JSO says it received a warrant for his arrest.
According to police records, witnesses told police they saw both teens fighting when Byrd pulled a gun out of his jacket and shot Lane.
