Ugly home-turf loss to Montreal Roses drops club further back in race for post-season

Calgary Wild FC wants to be included in the inaugural Northern Super League playoffs.

So it was fitting that Saturday’s tilt — the club’s first-ever Pride match at McMahon Stadium — featured inclusivity front and centre for the footie franchise.

Too bad for the hosts the afternoon didn’t include a win — a must-have one, really, if Wild FC hopes to make the post-season in the debut year of the Canadian professional women’s soccer circuit.

“It’s tough,” admitted Wild head coach Lydia Bedford, after the 5-0 loss left Wild (6W-12L-2D) a dozen back of Roses (9-6-5) in the race with just a handful of dates left on the regular schedule.
