One man arrested, second suspect sought by police

One person was arrested and another sought by police after a Calgary Transit driver was randomly attacked downtown on Saturday evening.

The transit operator was pepper-sprayed before being beaten on 7th Avenue near Centre Street S.E. around 6:30 p.m., the Calgary Police Service said in a written advisory supplied to the media.

“District units flooded the area of the assault and were quickly able to identify the main offender of this assault,” police said, leading to the arrest of a man without incident.

Officers were on the hunt for a second suspect. No description was immediately available.
