Liberal frontbencher Anne Ruston has called on her party to focus on the “important issues” rather than the controversy surrounding Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price.
It comes after the latest poll results showed the Coalition had gone backwards following Ms Price’s comments about Indian Australians.
The controversy engulfed the Liberal Party, leading to Ms Price’s firing from the frontbench and criticism of Ms Ley’s handling of the issue.
“One of the things that this last week has said to us is that we do need to focus on the two jobs the Australian people elected us to do,” Ms Ruston told Sky News Sunday Agenda.
“One is to hold the government to account… And secondly, we need to continue to work on our policy platform.”
