REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Police Department is investigating an attempted kidnapping involving a young girl in the Peppertree neighborhood.

A 12-year-old reported that a man driving a dark blue minivan tried to grab her while she was walking on Alamine Drive earlier this week.

The suspect, described as a white male in his 30s or older with a balding head and wearing an orange or red shirt, initially approached the girl from his driver's side window and offered her a ride home.

He then accelerated, cut her off, opened the driver’s door, and attempted to grab her. The girl managed to defend herself by striking the suspect and escaped unharmed as he drove away.

The minivan is noted for having chipped paint on the hood. Redding Police are seeking any information related to this case.
