SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The hearts of the Irish faithful were broken on Saturday night as they watched a victory over No. 16 Texas A&M slip out of No. 8 Notre Dame’s hands.
Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed escaped pressure to throw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Nate Boerkircher with 13 seconds left. Randy Bond then kicked the extra point to seal the deal on a 41-40 victory over the Irish, as a dropped snap on a late Notre Dame extra point attempt proved to be the difference maker.

The Fighting Irish drew first blood less than two minutes into Saturday night’s barnburner when Loghan Thomas blocked a Texas A&M punt and Tae Johnson returned it 20 yards for a scoop and score.
