(St. Joseph, MO) — St. Joseph, Missouri will use a state grant for a fire training facility. Kurt Fuehrer of the St. Joseph Fire Department says the complex, funded in part by the $117-thousand Military Community Reinvestment Grant, will benefit local firefighters as well as the Missouri Air National Guard’s 129th Airlift Wing. He says currently St. Joseph’s 125 firefighters must travel out of town for training so having a local complex will save costs. He notes other nearby departments will be able to use it as well.

Fuehrer says they’re considering a two-story tower design near the Rosecrans Memorial Airport, which could be expanded with additional funds.

The City of St. Joseph is kicking additional funds. A facility could be ready by next spring.
