GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Project ESME — the Grand Rapids–based nonprofit behind the Eclectic String Music Ensemble — brings its immersive “Carnival of the Animals: A Zoo Tour Concert” to John Ball Zoo next Saturday, September 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. The program is designed as a moving musical experience: ESME’s faculty artists and West Michigan student musicians will pop up at habitats around the Zoo before gathering everyone for a finale at the Central Stage Plaza. The set centers on Camille Saint‑Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals,” and weaves in family favorites inspired by The Lion King, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Jaws, and more. The performance is included with general Zoo admission and free for members, with ticketing handled through the Zoo’s website.
