NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Trump administration has drafted a plan to deploy 1,000 Louisiana National Guard troops to New Orleans and Baton Rouge to support law enforcement, according to The Washington Post .

The documents, confirmed by the Pentagon as authentic, outline a law enforcement mission focused on the state’s “urban centers,” contingent on a formal request from Gov. Jeff Landry, a Republican who has expressed support for the idea, the reported stated.

So far, there has been no official request from the governor.

A spokesperson from Gov. Landry's office shared a statement with WWL Louisiana, “We aren’t going to make a comment on leaked or pre decisional documents, especially if President Trump has not formally announced anything.”
