Coventry City’s Championship rivals Sheffield United have sacked manager Ruben Selles after just five games of the new season, according to reports.

And former Blades boss Chris Wilder is reportedly set to replace Selles in the Bramall Lane dugout.

The Blades were expected to be one of the division’s promotion favourites again this season, having competed for an automatic return to the Premier League last season when they finished third.

However, the South Yorkshire club were thrashed 5-0 at Ipswich on Friday night to leave them rooted to the bottom of the table without a point.

The Sky Blues , in contrast, have started the season strongly with an uneaten run that sees them in sixth place after five games and once again in a prime position to compete for the play-offs under Frank L
