British boxing icon Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton has been found dead at home, Police have confirmed. ‌

The three-time light welterweight and welterweight world champion was a firm favourite amongst British boxing fans and was planning a controversial return to the ring in December this year. ‌

However, fight fans have been left in shock at the news of his tragic passing aged 46. ‌

A statement from Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the body of a man had been found at an address in Hyde.

It read: "We can confirm that we have found a body at an address on Bowlacre Road in Gee Cross at 6.45am today, Sunday, September 14. The death is not being treated as suspicious."

Hatton has admitted struggles with depression and alcohol abuse since retiring 13 years ago. ‌
