Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton, one of the most beloved and popular British boxers of all time, has passed away at the age of 46.

The Stockport -born fighter inspired a generation of Mancunians with his remarkable rise from the Hattersley council estate in Hyde to the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip, where he captivated boxing fans all over the globe with a number of memorable heart-on-sleeve style performances.

Known as much for his thunderous left hook as for his honesty outside the ring, Hatton leaves behind a legacy that transcends the sport he dominated for so many years.
