The new traffic signal at the intersection of 163rd Avenue and San Ysidro Road in northwest Surprise is going live tomorrow.
The city of Surprise plans to activate the signal early Monday, several months ahead of schedule after it was expedited as part of the overall road improvements in the area.
The signal will be fully activated immediately, bypassing the standard 48-hour flashing red phase, because of high traffic on 163rd Avenue.
The city said its staff will be monitoring the signal’s performance and adjust timing if needed.
