NORTH CHARLESTON — One man is in custody after a fatal weekend shooting left another person dead.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department were dispatched just after 5 p.m. on Sept. 13 to the Avalon apartment community in reference to a disturbance, according to a statement the department posted .

When the officers arrived at the scene on the 7800 block of Roxboro Road, they found one man who had been shot inside an apartment.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity had not been publicly released as of Sept. 14.

Parrish Mitchell, 20, was arrested in connection with the man’s death on Sept. 14. He is facing charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
