Spartanburg city police were called to a block party Saturday after witnesses heard gunshots.

According to a police report, several witnesses told police a woman was assaulted by a mob and knocked unconscious. Police say the victim's knees and forehead were bleeding.

The victim stated "she was assaulted by a group of unidentified people while attending a block party." When asked why, the report says she could not provide a reason.

According to the officer on scene, a witness claimed she tried to protect this woman and was hit several times in the proces
