Dare Board approves $3.3 million for boardwalk at Soundside Event Site

The boardwalk is part of a development plan for the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head.

At the Sept. 3 Dare County Commissioners meeting, the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau received approval to use $3,339,235 to build a boardwalk on the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head.

The boardwalk is part of a development plan for the site that includes the eventual construction of an indoor sporting and events facility and is the first of these projects to be approved and planned, said Lee Nettles, executive director of the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.

The boardwalk will include a half mile long concrete walkway, a pergola, seven boat slips, a 2,000-square-foot gazebo and access to the sound. It
