NEW YORK -- The Rangers activated right fielder Adolis García from the 10-day injured list and put him in the starting lineup against the Mets on Sunday afternoon. To make room for García, Texas optioned outfielder Dustin Harris to Triple-A Round Rock.

García missed the last 10 games because of a right quad strain. The team expected him to be out longer, but after taking live batting practice on Saturday at Citi Field, García told the training staff and manager Bruce Bochy that he was ready to come off the IL.

“I thought [García would be out] longer than this,” Bochy said. “He started getting healthy, which you see sometimes. We were expecting another five to seven days [of missing time] until he was ready to go. He checked all the boxes. He is ready to play. That’s why he is out there
