BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ/CBS Sports) - Virginia Tech has fired football coach Brent Pry in the wake of the Hokies’ 0-3 start to the 2025 season.
University President Tim Sands made the announcement September 14 after national media outlets, including CBS Sports and ESPN, announced the move was likely.
All three losses were by double digits, including Saturday’s 45-26 loss at home to Old Dominion.
Virginia Tech is 16-24 overall under Coach Pry.
Sands issued the following statement:
Coach Brent Pry has been relieved of his coaching duties effective immediately. We appreciate Coach Pry’s efforts and service since 2021. Unfortunately, the results on the field were not acceptable and a change in leadership is necessary. Philip Montgomery will serve as interim head coach. We will continue
