The Sooners scored 5½ minutes into the game, and the extra-point team shifted, like so many of those cockamamied formations do. Except the Sooners never shifted back.

Holder Jacob Ulrich flanked to the left, tight end Jaren Kanak went into shotgun formation and danged if deep snapper Ben Anderson didn’t zip the ball back to Kanak. Kanak danced around a second, then threw into the end zone, where Ulrich, who is accustomed to catching the ball while kneeling, speared the pigskin while running.

You’d have thought you were on the sandlot. Recess or something.

Speaking of which, that’s how the Sooners played Saturday in Philadelphia. Lincoln Financial Field was one big playground as the 13th-ranked Sooners beat Temple 42-3.
