BLACKSBURG, Va. — Just one day after Old Dominion handed Virginia Tech a historic 45-26 defeat, Hokies president Tim Sands announced Sunday that head football coach Brent Pry has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately.

The decision follows a disastrous start to the season for Tech (0-3), capped by Saturday’s loss in Norfolk that gave ODU its first-ever road win against an ACC opponent. Quarterback Colton Joseph led the Monarchs (2-1) with 276 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 63 rushing yards with another score. The Monarchs rolled to a 28-0 halftime lead, capitalizing on two early Hokies turnovers and piling up 527 yards of total offense by game’s end. Running back Trequan Jones added 101 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
