Police have launched a probe after "possible human remains" were found at a beauty spot in Loch Lomond. ‌

Officers were alerted to the discovery at about 12:40pm on Saturday, September 14, near Rubha Dubh, at Firkin Point between Inverbeg and Tarbet. ‌

Detectives are believed to have removed the remains from the scene for further analysis. ‌

Firkin Point , just off the Lomond Cycle Path, is located close to the loch and is a popular picnic spot, with camping pitches available.

Speaking to the BBC, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Extensive inquiries are ongoing." ‌
