FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A local nonprofit organization is continuing its mission in a new way this weekend.

On Sunday, Erin’s House for Grieving Children held its first-ever Healing Heart Hustle 5K at Shoaff Park.

The event is a remembrance run and walk honoring loved ones while raising funds for children and families in northeast Indiana who are grieving.

The organization says the event takes the place of its former Lights of Love holiday memorial at Parkview Field.

“While it looks a little different, the heart behind it remains the same,” said Debbie Meyer, Erin’s House Executive Director. “We’re looking forward to making new memories together while continuing [our] mission of healing.”
