Before we jump into the September reader mailbag, we have a few loose ends to tie up from a couple of recent columns.
First: Ray Shrader of northern Roanoke County notified me last week that tree trimmers hired by Verizon did a bang-up job clearing foliage that was badly encroaching on utility lines in his neighborhood.
“They’ve trimmed the trees way back,” Shrader said, of the overgrowth along Wood Haven Road near Peters Creek Road. “It looks like they’ve hired a tree-trimming service for the job.”
I also heard from at least three readers who told me of other places in the Roanoke Valley where overgrowth is impacting utility lines.
