Virginia Woman Arrested After Medical Examiner Determines Baby Died from Suffocation and Methamphetamine Toxicity

A Virginia woman has been charged with felony homicide and child abuse in the death of her two-month-old son, following a months-long investigation by the Roanoke Police Department.

According to a press release from the department, detectives arrested 37-year-old Lindsey Renee Burnette on September 3, 2025. This arrest came after a grand jury indicted her on charges of felony homicide, abuse/neglect of a child causing serious injury, and child cruelty.

The investigation began on Friday, February 14, 2025, when officers responded to a report of an unconscious infant in the 600 block of Hanover Avenue NW. Upon arrival, they found two-month-old Aka-rri Burnette-Coleman deceased
