CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Chesterfield School Board Member Dorothy “Dot” Heffron apologized and resigned Sunday afternoon, days after making an insensitive social media post about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The post, allegedly made by Heffron on a private Instagram account, read: “Call me old fashioned, but I remember when we used to be okay with shooting Nazis.”

She released a statement on Sunday, expressing her regret.
