It's not how far we walk, but how far we've come.

That was Sunday's message as non-profit organization National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI, held its second annual walk.

Members of the community were raising awareness about mental health one step at a time.

The second Erie NAMIWalks event took place at Penn State Behrend Sunday morning.

This event is organized by non-profit NAMI, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for people with mental health challenges through support, education and advocacy.

Wendy Jacobs, Executive Director for NAMI Erie, said, "We have a small contract with the county and we have some grants, but really in order to make it free and do big community events, we need fundraisers like this to support it."
